"Your Majesty, it is I, Terra Sprout the Messenger." The fairy, which had grown to human size after entering the castle, bowed. "I come with Lilliana the Orphan, like you requested." Queen Wesdele glanced at Lilliana.
"Follow me, Lilliana." The Queen rose and began to float a few inches above the floor. Lilliana nodded and did as she was told. They exited the grand castle and found their way into a beautiful rose garden with roses of all colors. Queen Wesdele shrunk to about 5 inches tall and flew at eye level with Lilliana. She shone the brightest white. "I assume you have heard of the war between our peoples?"
"Yes, I have. I was supposed to even fight in it."
"Hmm. That seems..." The queen took a moment to choose her words. "unwise."
"Why? We, after all, are outnumbered by Akala's people. I do not agree with the war, myself. If anyone took the King's daughter, it would be the evil faries."
The Queen said nothing in reply. "Lilliana, my dear, I need your help to find his daughter and stop this war."
"What? Me? I don't think I can do that..." Lilliana shook her head.
"You can. And unless you do, the castles will fall. Both castles. Your white one and my gold one." The Queen urged. "You won't be alone during your journey, though." A young, brown-haired fairy with dark green eyes and wings stood in the doorway Lilliana and Queen Wesdele had just entered. She appeared to be about the same age as Lilliana.
"You sent for me, your majesty?" The young fairy called to her queen. "Oh, a human. What is she doing here?" Lilliana could tell that the fairy before her was one of the faries that
"Lilliana, meet Willow Starlight. Willow, this is the girl I was telling you about." Willow entered the rose garden and also shrunk down to become a green glimmer of light. She glared at Lilliana as her Queen continued to speak. "You two will work together to find the King of Elaville's daughter. You both were chosen for this quest because you are smart, brave, hard-working, and determined. Everything we need to find her." Lilliana glanced at Willow and saw that she was looking back. Willow made a face at Lilliana then turned her attention back to Queen Wesdele. "Please be cooperative. You really aren't that different, when you think about it."
"I can do this on my own, Queen Wesdele! I'm at least 10 times smarter, braver, blah blah blah-er than her. I don't need a human to help! Don't make me!" Willow cried.
The Queen ignored Willow's pleas and began to speak again. "I need you to speak with Queen Delanette. She is queen of the evil faries. She may know what became of the King's daughter. Go now! There is only a week before both the Kingdom of Elaville and Akala, the Land of Magic, fall." Willow and Lilliana left the rose garden and, in no particular hurry, began their journey.
